ReconDeck vs Atera

Disclosure: this page is published by KLIK.BEL, the maker of ReconDeck. Checked on 2026-10-28. Atera's own website returned HTTP 403 to our automated check, so we publish no Atera prices and make no specific claims about Atera's current plans or AI features. Check atera.com before buying.

Short answer: Atera is an established, cloud-hosted RMM + PSA suite. ReconDeck is a self-hosted RMM with a built-in AI engineer and its own remote desktop. If you want an established all-in-one SaaS with PSA and a large integration ecosystem, Atera is the safer pick today. If you need the server on your own infrastructure, want to bring your own AI subscription, or manage legacy Windows, look at ReconDeck.

Pricing model

Atera: widely described as priced per technician with unlimited devices. We could not read Atera's pricing page (HTTP 403 on 2026-10-28), so we publish no figures. See atera.com/pricing.

ReconDeck: pricing on request.

What the model means: per-technician pricing is cheap for a few technicians with many devices and gets expensive as the team grows. A per-device or per-server model flips that. We will not claim ReconDeck is cheaper until our pricing is public.

AI cost: with ReconDeck, AI runs on your own model subscription, so you pay your AI provider directly and ReconDeck does not meter AI requests. Check your provider's terms and data-handling for what is sent to the model.

FAQ

Is there a self-hosted alternative to Atera?

Yes. ReconDeck can run on your own Ubuntu + Docker server. Open-source options such as Tactical RMM and MeshCentral are also self-hosted but have no built-in AI. Atera itself is a cloud service.

How is Atera priced compared with per-device RMMs?

Atera is generally described as per-technician with unlimited devices; we could not verify current figures on Atera's page, so check atera.com/pricing. Per-device vendors such as NinjaOne publish per-endpoint rates instead. Which is cheaper depends on your technician-to-device ratio.

Is it safe to let an AI run commands on client PCs?

It depends on the controls. Ask any vendor what blocks destructive commands, who approves actions, and whether there is an audit log. ReconDeck's approach is a server-side hard block, a reviewer model, time-limited permissions and a full log; none of this has been independently audited yet.

Can I switch from Atera to ReconDeck?

ReconDeck is a different architecture (self-hosted, no built-in PSA/billing). Expect to run both in parallel while you test. There is no published migration tool; ask us about your case.
